Bayesian Inference of Stochastic volatility Model by Hybrid Monte Carlo

چکیده
The hybrid Monte Carlo (HMC) algorithm is applied for the Bayesian inference of the stochastic volatility (SV) model. We use the HMC algorithm for the Markov chain Monte Carlo updates of volatility variables of the SV model. First we compute parameters of the SV model by using the artificial financial data and compare the results from the HMC algorithm with those from the Metropolis algorithm. We find that the HMC algorithm decorrelates the volatility variables faster than the Metropolis algorithm. Second we make an empirical study for the time series of the Nikkei 225 stock index by the HMC algorithm. We find the similar correlation behavior for the sampled data to the results from the artificial financial data and obtain a φ value close to one (φ ≈ 0.977), which means that the time series has the strong persistency of the volatility shock.

Bayesian Estimation of GARCH Model by Hybrid Monte Carlo
The hybrid Monte Carlo (HMC) algorithm is used for Bayesian analysis of the generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (GARCH) model. The HMC algorithm is one of Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms and it updates all parameters at once. We demonstrate that how the HMC reproduces the GARCH parameters correctly. The algorithm is rather general and it can be applied to other ...
متن کاملOption pricing under the double stochastic volatility with double jump model
In this paper, we deal with the pricing of power options when the dynamics of the risky underling asset follows the double stochastic volatility with double jump model. We prove efficiency of our considered model by fast Fourier transform method, Monte Carlo simulation and numerical results using power call options i.e. Monte Carlo simulation and numerical results show that the fast Fourier tra...
متن کاملBayesian Inference for Nonlinear and Non-gaussian Stochastic Volatility Model with Leverage Effect
Stochastic volatility (SV) models provide useful tools to describe the evolution of asset returns, which exhibit time-varying volatility. This paper extends a basic SV model to capture a leverage effect, a fat-tailed distribution of asset returns and a nonlinear relationship between the current volatility and the previous volatility process. The Bayesian approach with the Markov chain Monte Car...
متن کاملBayesian inference in a Stochastic Volatility Nelson-Siegel model
In this paper, we develop and apply Bayesian inference for an extended NelsonSiegel (1987) term structure model capturing interest rate risk. The so-called Stochastic Volatility Nelson-Siegel (SVNS) model allows for stochastic volatility in the underlying yield factors. We propose a Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithm to efficiently estimate the SVNS model using simulation-based inference...
متن کاملInference for Lévy Driven Stochastic Volatility Models Via Adaptive Sequential Monte Carlo
In the following paper we investigate simulation methodology for Bayesian inference in Lévy driven SV models. Typically, Bayesian inference from such statistical models is performed using Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods. However, it is well-known that fitting SV models using MCMC is not always straight-forward. One method that can improve over MCMC is SMC samplers ([14]), but in that ap...
